Bring international flavor to the science classroom!

This guide is intended for science teachers who wish to introduce their students to the nutritional value and cultural history of the Mediterranean Diet.

Through this workshop, students will learn about the diet's ancient origins and its positive impacts on human health. Comparing the Mediterranean model to a traditional American one, students explore ways in which they might be able to incorporate aspects of the diet into their daily lives.

Students will come away with in-depth knowledge of:

    • The origins of the Mediterranean Diet
    • What foods are included are in it and why it is known to be so healthy
    • How to compare their own nutritional habits to those of a different culture
